An Online Business Needs To Have A Proven System

You'd be surprised to know that there are many people who start their online business without a plan. If they do have a plan, chances are they don't have a system that works for them. In fact, those that start their onlone businesses using ebay or craigslist do most of the jobs by themselves. It's only when they start to earn a little more profit that they start to automote things and hire people to do some of the legwork.

Take the case of my first online toy shop. I set it up by myself. That meant buying all the items, keeping inventory, packing/mailing/shipping, notifying and updating the customers. Oh, I have to even go to the post to see if the checks arrived (paypal isn't that popular back then) and I have to go to the bank to deposit them. It didn't take too long for me to feel the burn. It was exhausting, to say the least. Fortunately, the growth of the Internet prompted changes that made it very easy for online merchants to conduct business. The shopping cart, easy payment systems, and inventory tracking allowed me to automate most of the processes. I eventually made use of a dependable courier service so I could cut down my involvement in the legwork. Of course, all these automation and third party service were eating a portion of my profits. Let's face it, convenience is not cheap. Was the additional costs worth it? Yes it is. But sometimes I wonder if there is a way to cut down on costs even more.

It took me a few more years to find a better system. It cut down much of my operating costs plus I didn't have to spend all my day supervising. My headache was gone. I get to spend more time to do things that matter more. To know more about the system I used, click here.
